Pete Tavern was established in 1864, making it the 6th oldest bar in all of New York City. Perhaps my favorite fun fact of this place is that it was the only bar in New York City that legally remained open during prohibition. The reason? Well, the political machine that ran New York at the time, Tammany Hall, was right down the street.
