In the Navy in 2006, I made it to the Trader Vic’s in Dubai. More recently I’ve become enamored with the Hale Pele in Portland OR, and Tacoma WA’s Tacoma Cabana. Vic's has rotating specials on the weekdays, which amounts to one of their cocktails for $6. Thursdays featured the original Trader Vic's Mai Thai which, if you haven't had one, is worth trying. Don't expect to be blown away by the mixology, but do enjoy the mint, pineapple and cherry garnish.
